Maddy & Daddy - Making a record together!

Madison has always loved singing. Her little face just lights up when she's standing in front of a microphone singing her heart out. I have always loved singing, too, although I wasn't very good when I started singing at 14.

Maddie sang in our church's Kid's Choir for a couple of years, but her Autism seemed to jump up at some point, and she decided not to continue. I recently invited Maddy to join me in the studio to lay down some vocal tracks on a song she used to sing with her good friend Sarah. We probably spent about an hour laying down some vocal tracks, and then she was done. I did a rough mix of our song "You Are Worthy of Our Praise" and we were both exstatic at how it came out. A couple weeks later I was scheduled to sing the 'special' song during offering at church, and I invited Maddy to join me. Again, the joy on her face is so clear when she's singing her heart out! Our friend Gene Naber videotaped it for us and we were overjoyed to see ourselves singing together that morning! You can see the video on YouTube soon. Just search for "Maddy & Daddy". HELPING SONOMA COUNTY PEOPLE OVERCOME ADDICTION: Don and his wife Dawn (that's correct: Don and Dawn) are active in helping people overcome alcoholism and drug addiction. Mrs. Dawn serves on the administrative staff at DRUG ABUSE ALTERNATIVES CENTER (DAAC), while Mr. Don serves our community by helping to feed, clothe and house the homeless and run a 40 bed long-term drug and alcohol recovery program (New Life University). Don also serves on the Sonoma County Advisory Board for Alcohol, Drugs and Other Services. Both Don and Dawn serve local CELEBRATE RECOVERY meetings in Santa Rosa, at the Tuesday CR meeting held at the LIGHTHOUSE CHURCH at 88 School Street which starts at 6:30pm and at the Wednesday CR meeting at the NAZARENE CHURCH at Farmers Lane.

SONOMA COUNTY AUTISM SUPPORT is a group for parents of children on the Autism spectrum.
